Lying, but only a little

Current Exhibition

There are no reliable maps in Lying, but only a little.

The exhibition brings together Mark Acetelli and Kristi Head, two Los Angeles–based painters whose works use the vocabulary of landscape while steadily dismantling its obligation to describe a real place. What remains is more interesting: memory without documentation, nature without geography, light detached from source.

The show asks a simple question without making too much ceremony of it — can an image be factually false and emotionally exact?

Los Angeles has always been a city of reinvention and light. Mark and Kristi each approach those ideas differently, but both share a commitment to creating spaces for contemplation, emotion and presence. In a time of constant noise, these works invite us to slow down, to look more carefully, and to rediscover the quiet power of observation.

Reduction — landscape pared back until light itself carries the image.

Accumulation — remembered fragments reorganized into places that never existed.

About the Gallery

Interval Gallery presents contemporary artists whose practices investigate perception, material, and cultural memory.

A single room on West Sunset Boulevard. Each exhibition is developed as a complete body of work rather than a group of individual pieces, and the room is hung with that in mind — enough space around each piece to let it be looked at properly.

The Space

A single room in the heart of Los Angeles, hung with intention.

The walls, the light, and the room as it changes across each exhibition — shown alongside work from the current show and scenes from the last opening.
